Re: really really free market
Dang, im lost. Is there a group that is doing this that is already started on FB and MS? Because i dont have either so im way out of the loop if this is the case. Also have so much crud to get rid of bike parts, clothes, art (can we bring art?), luggage, and a bunch of other things as well. However, i am still lost.

Re: really really free market
The bloom collective is putting one on at the end of July.
07/27/08: Really, Really Free Market
Time: 2:00pm
Location:
Corner of Wealthy and Fuller
Wealthy and Fuller
Grand Rapids, MI 49506 (Map)
Let's share what we've got and ask for what we need, because there is enough for everyone. Let's respond to the corporations that would rather the landfills overflow than anyone get something without paying. Let's meet this month to show that we mean what we've been saying--we want an alternative, and we're going to invent it for ourselves.
Come to the first ever REALLY, REALLY FREE MARKET in Grand Rapids! Bring usable stuff that you don't need and/or aren't using to share with others. You might consider bringing clothes, furniture, records, toys, or even food.
For more information, contact Bloom Collective at bloom@mediamouse.org.

Re: really really free market
This is going to be fun! If y'all could bring a sheet or table to place your stuff on that would be rad. In other cities I have heard that these are amazing events, so let's see what Grand Rapids can do!

Re: really really free market
I'm sooooo bummed I'll be out of town & will miss this. Will someone please take & post photos? CAn you make this a monthy/quarterly/semi-annual/or annual event?

Re: really really free market
I thought the event went great. I gave away some NO WAR BUT CLASS WAR shirts and picked up an amazing vhs video of Mechanik shows from 2002, righteous score!
Re: really really free market
yeah, this was really super. i got some shorts and gave some shirts!
Re: really really free market
We really liked it. We got rid of 85% of our stuff that we brought. We actually came home with a heavier, but smaller load because of the books we grabbed, but won't read, but they sounded fun. haha.
Also picked up a Coleman camping lantern and a nice old yard rake.
I think it'd be cool to make it a monthly event. I took a bunch of photos, but I don't have them up yet.

Re: really really free market
My girlfriend and I were able to give away a ton of old clothes and picked up a few things that we really needed--a block of knives, some small garden tools, and more measuring cups/spoons.
It was a pretty rad event that can probably only get better in the future.

Re: really really free market
Very very cool. We were about an hour late but still lots of people around, and we were able to give away everything we brought, which was satisfying.
Oh, crap. If any of you had signed up for the vegan italian sausage recipe, I forgot the e-mail list at home. I'll get it out to you tomorrow.
