I am giving away for free over 10,000+ pieces of sidewalk chalk, to anyone and everyone, to color the entire downtown area of Grand Rapids like a canvas in the spirit of spring, as far and wide as possible. Picture walking around downtown and seeing gorgeous street art and colors as far as you can see. We’ll start at Rosa Parks Circle and spread from there. We can make these drawings as massive or individual as we want, 50 people chalking something massive or one person’s individual contribution.

If we do this right, if you can help me spread the word, I truly think this could be an event that could bring massive attention to Grand Rapids; I’ve been thinking about and planning this event since last September. I’ve employed the UICA, GRCC, Downtown Alliance, Avenue for the Arts event planners, and the Children’s Museum to make this happen. This won’t work if I don’t have your help, I need everyone’s help to make it happen, here are some things that will make this a huge success.

-Invite as many friends as possible to the Event on Facebook
-Print off the poster for the event and put it up in your school, workplace, or

(Feel free to email me or message me and I can email the file to you directly as well)
-If your school has an art program, PLEASE talk to the teacher and get her and the class involved, and possibly even the school itself.
-Talk to your employer about possibly making a chalk donation or if they have any sort of newsletter that could be used to inform people about this event.

General Rules:
No drawing on private property, only public areas
No religious, political, or drawings that could be offensive. This isn’t about someone’s individual personal beliefs but more so a choir of people making something all together as a whole.

Layaway date: Yes it rains in April, if it is truly raining the day of the event, then it will be happening the same time (12PM-5) same place (Rosa Parks Circle) the following Saturday (April 25th).
